Home is where the heart is.....

After two and 1/2 LONG days at Children's Lila was discharged on Friday evening. Nobody was happier than Mom as the accommodations were small to say the least. I snapped the attached shot of the Chicago skyline leaving the hospital parking garage... We have spent the weekend trying to keep Lila still, she's still supposed to be horizontal 100% of the time. The challenge with this is she likes to roll around, lift her head, and kick her legs...which are all no no's... One of the remedies we found was buying her a Radio Flyer and replicating the experience in the hospital. The only issue with this "Best laid plan" was Hurricane Ike hit Chicago and it has rained steadily from 12am Friday night to now, henceforth, her rides have been limited to around the coffee table in our house. We're all in great spirits, thanks for everyone's love and support! Enjoy the pictures.

Big Bird and things to do.....

This morning started with a special present - BIG BIRD.! Yesterday, in post op, Lila couldn't stop staring at her nurse's BRIGHT, Yellow shirt. Every time she came in the room her attention would go away from us to the nurse..... so getting a yellow BIG BIRD toy from her grandparents made her morning. But the afternoon came and after laying on her back for over 24 hours the doldrums set in. The remedy for this boredom was a fabulous ride on a Radio Flyer throughout the halls of the Neurological ward... finally - SMILES! Everything is going great here and hopefully we will be released tomorrow. Talk to everyone soon.

Made of Steel

We have had a long day at the hospital but all is well. After three hours of surgery she is doing great... the sense of humor and energy are back... she has tried to eat her heart monitor, hospital gown, and oxygen monitor cables so she is herself.. Enjoy the video and we will see everyone soon.

Lila enjoys her breakfast

Lila digs in... like a fine steak house downtown. The girl loves her food and, like her dad heard in the background, is excited.

This one is going to be trouble!

I'm rocking out to The Who...next thing I know Lila is digging it also! She has a thing for Pete Townsend...

The Guardian

Everywhere Lila goes... Mia stands guard.

Lila is a BIG girl

Check this out... the kid can't crawl....but LOVES to stand. She is small for her age so when people see her standing they think we have a midget!

Welcome to the blog

In the last six years we have been asked by all of you for pictures of what's happening out here in Chicago..lately, the requests have evolved to the "send us pictures of Lila" request. After feeble attempts to satisfy this request, we decided to take this to next level and post content for everyone's consumption. Enjoy and feel free to forward this link to anyone that is interest in hearing from us.
